The surface effects of internal waves propagating across the Gulf can be seen from the divergences and convergences changing the reflectance of the sea surface. The packets (several wave pulses in a group) propagate from the northern flank of Georges Bank across the Gulf of Maine to the OOA site. The orientation of the crests is propagating NW through the site. The separation between packets is about 20 nm.
