Figure 2: The WHOI wave rider buoy deployed to the east of the Northern fish cage. The antenna on top of the mast uses a spread spectrum radio to telemeter data to shore. The white cylinder at the base of the mast is a radar reflector. Just below it in the center of the tower is a solar powered guard light. Four solar panels on the tower provide power by charging the battery used by the accelerometer, radio and data system. Flotation is provided by a Surlyn foam flotation collar about an aluminum pressure case. This case holds the battery, accelerometer and data system.
