With nearshore waters already crowded by other activities, research projects like UNH’s are exploring the feasibility of offshore aquaculture. Selected in cooperation with local fishermen, the Project’s demonstration site is approximately six miles off the N.H. coast and one mile south of the Isle of Shoals. Its surface imprint consists only of operational and environmental monitoring buoys.
